The local emergency inspectorate official Lucian Mihoc said the nine people started to feel sick on their way back from the church and called the emergency rescue service 112 soon as they reached the boarding house in Gearmata Mare, Timis county.
According to Mihoc, the patients believe they might have been poisoned with carbon monoxide.
Mihoc added that, although the nine people were not poisoned following a blaze in the church or in the boarding house where they were staying, firefighters intervened to prevent any unfortunate situations.
Local police officers were originally informed that seven people were poisoned with carbon monoxide in the respective boarding house. However, when they reached the boarding house, they found out the patients started to feel sick after having spent a few hours in the church in Gearmata Mare.
