The Bucharest Court of Appeals decided Tuesday Bian will be released from preventive arrest, and the ruling is definitive.

Bian is accused of taking bribes amounting to over EUR270,000.

On October 16, 2011 the Bucharest Court upheld prosecutors’ request and Bian was placed under 29-day preventive arrest for corruption.

Following the arrest, former Prime Minister Emil Boc dismissed Bian from his position of state secretary and head of the National Employment Agency (ANOFM).

The National Anticorruption Department said at that time it had evidence that Bian received bribe from staff of local employment agencies to allow the continuation of EU-funded projects the institutions were unfolding.
