Vaya Con Dios is a Belgian musical group founded in 1986 by Dani Klein, Dirk Schoufs, and Willy Lambregt. Their name is Spanish for "Go with God" and the band is one of the most successful Belgium has ever had. Dani Klein, the lead singer, and Willy Lambregt had previous success in the band Arbeid Adelt! and decided to form the band Vaya Con Dios together with contrabassist Dirk Schoufs, because they shared interests in gypsy music, jazz, and opera - genres that they felt were underappreciated in Brussels.

Vaya con Dios’s “Night Owls” sold millions of copies worldwide. The Spanish influences turned the band’s first two albums into genuine hits. The most famous songs were "Puerto Rico", "Don't Cry For Louie" and "Nah neh nah". Vaya con Dios’s music was a breath of fresh air compared to the 80’s mainstream: it had color, soul, passion and flair.

In 1991, Dani Klein and Dirk Schoufs decided to go their separate ways, and from then on the group consisted of Klein playing with various musicians. On May 24, 1991, Schoufs died of an AIDS-related illness. The third and the fourth albums, “Time Flies” and “Roots and Wings”, are much more melancholic than their predecessors.

“Purple Prose” was the comeback album in 1999, followed by  “The Promise” in 2004, which was released on an independent label and included hits like "Je l'aime, Je l'aime" and "Don't Deny". In 2006, Vaya con Dios launched “The Ultimate Collection”, a greatest hits album.
