Romanian Tourism Ministry To Set Up National Bike Tourism Network
Using the cyclo-tourism network will be free. The routes will be designed to be traveled within 5-12 days in the case of national objectives, 2-5 days in the case of regional attractions, and up to a day for local points of interest. Riders will be guided along a route by special signs.
In order to design, monitor and maintain the cyclo-tourism routes, county councils will be allotted funds from the state budget, which may be increased with financing from other public or private sources. The creation of new routes, significant changes or the closure of existing routes will require the authorization of county councils and the approval of the central tourism authority.
According to the draft decision, there is high interest and demand for official cyclo-tourism routes in Romania, from individual tourists, cyclo-tourism associations and tourism agencies, domestic or foreign, as well as local authorities and regional development structures. The network will lead to gains in several economic sectors, such as construction, transport, food, arts and crafts, says the draft.
