„I am not fond of sacking people, yet, this is only fair if they fail to do their job properly. I am putting maximum pressure on everybody, as they must understand there is no time to play games in situations like this,” Berceanu said.
Ionascu was appointed to this position Wednesday after Berceanu had sacked the head of the institution, Mihai Nica, for having mismanaged snow-removal operations in recent days.
On Wednesday, Berceanu also sacked Florin Dascalu as head of road upkeep department within the public roads authority, and appointed Aurel Balajel interim head.
Heavy snowfalls over the past three days have caused a major gridlock in capital city Bucharest and countrywide for both drivers and passengers. Many roads were blocked, heavy truck traffic was restricted on several roads and trains registered major delays.
