The largest seven-month trade deficit in the EU states is Great Britain’s EUR72.7 billion, while Spain recorded in January-July a trade gap of EUR58.1 billion and France had a trade deficit of EUR37.2 billion.

Countries who registered the highest trade surplus were Germany with EUR116.9 billion, Netherlands with EUR25.5 billion and Ireland with EUR14.9 billion.

In July 2008, trade deficit was EUR 21.5 billion on the year, 63% higher compared with EUR 13.3 billion in July 2007.

EU area registered a trade deficit of EUR27.2 billion in August, compared with EUR16.1 billion in August 2007.
