Power Outage Leaves 12 Polling Stations In The Dark, E Romania

Twelve polling stations in Bacau county, eastern Romania, most of them in the city of Bacau, were affected by a power outage that occurred in the north of the city and nearby Traian commune.

In Traian commune, no polling station has any electricity supply, while in the north of he city polling station presidents lit candles to keep the election process going.
 
"It’s getting dark and staff at these polling stations has started to panic. We are currently discussing the possibility to continue elections by candlelight and we’ll see how fast the utility company can intervene,” said Constantin Chiriac, head of the local election office.
 
Teams of power supplier E.ON Moldova are working to resume electricity supply in the area.
