Victor Negrescu: Romania needs to establish a team to deal with EU funds
„Today (Wednesday – no.), there is the first European-level discussion on the financial resources that the European Union makes available to the member states in the context of the coronavirus crisis. We are talking about a total of 37 billion euros, of which 8 billion euros are available immediately. Romania receives from this amount 491 million euros and can subsequently receive 2,5 billion euros”, wrote Victor Negrescu, on Wednesday, on Facebook.
The PSD member of EU Parliament added that the Government should appoint the person and team responsible for this process.
„The Government of Romania had to nominate a person responsible for coordinating this process, which today would enter into dialogue with the representatives of the other states. Who is this person? What authority does have? Will he tell us anything about what he’s doing? Romania needs to establish a team to deal with this topic and can access all these funds in a coherent manner. At this moment, we have no one to communicate on European topics, which indicates a lack of capacity of the authorities to benefit from the solutions offered at European level”, Negrescu added.
He also said that a unitary approach is needed for Romania to benefit from European financial resources.
„Citizens and potential beneficiaries need to be informed of everything being prepared at this time, including at European level. I believe that there is a need for a unitary, common approach, with experts and officials from all parties to benefit from all these European solutions”, Negrescu concluded.
