Romanian PM Asked Ministries For Pollution Reduction Plans

Romanian Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu said Wednesday in the opening of the cabinet meeting that measures to lower CO2 emissions will be started in the central and local administration structures.

He added he asked several ministries to come up with plans to cut down on pollution.

The prime minister asked the economy and finance minister to draft a program aimed at lowering CO2 emissions resulted from the heating of public administration buildings.

Tariceanu also asked the Ministries of Environment and Transport to draft a program to align to EU recommendations the car parks of central and local public administrations, government agencies and state-owned companies.

Tariceanu added pollutant cars used in public administration need to be replaced with more environmental-friendly cars.

Tariceanu had a similar request last week, when he asked the Ministries of Environment and Finance to introduce energy efficiency norms for public administration buildings and car parks.
