According to prosecutors, the amendments to the criminal procedure code enable the person under investigation to destroy or conceal the evidence.
Prosecutors said that the amendment regarding the minimum 24-hour deadline necessary for the ex-officio lawyer to prepare the defense "actually invites culprits and defendants to hinder the trial."
Based on this amendment, if the ex-officio lawyer fails to show up within the 24-hour deadline during which the culprit is detained, then, the temporary arrest measure expires and the culprit is free to walk, the Public Ministry pointed out.
