Marko added he voted for the good of the Hungarian community in Romania, for the good of society in general and for understanding between Hungarians and Romanians.
The UDMR leader said he answered „No” to both questions in the referendum, describing the reason behind the questions as „unacceptable demagogy.”
UDMR represents the interests of Romania’s 1.4 million ethnic Hungarians and the party back its vice-president Kelemen Hunor for president.
About 18 million Romanian eligible voters are expected to cast ballots Sunday to elect a new president and say whether they want the country’s Parliament downsized to a single chamber and a maximum 300 lawmakers instead of the current 471.
