Romania ‘09 Investments Down 29% On Yr – INS

Romanian local investments in 2009 decreased 29.1% compared with a year before, according to the preliminary data published by the country’s statistics institute INS Thursday.

Investments in new construction works accounted for 53.4% of the total in 2009, higher on the year, while investments in equipment, including transport means decreased to 46.8%% of all investments.

Most funds were invested in retail and services (wholesale trade, vehicle and personal goods reparations) and industry.

Investments in the industry sector accounted for 41.8% of total investments in 2009, while trade and services accounted for 42.6%, constructions, for 9.1%, agriculture represented 2.8%, while other sectors accounted for 3.7%.

Romanian local investments in the fourth quarter of 2009 decreased 39.9% compared with the same period a year ago, INS said.
