Constantin said conservatives came up with the idea of submitting a simple motion on agriculture and social democrat head Victor Ponta agreed with it.

Constantin stressed that conservatives and social democrats wish to learn about the strategy applied by the Agriculture Ministry as regards replacing state aid granted until 2010, considering that this strategy has not been presented so far.

According to a press release, farmers’ union federation Agrostar firmly supports the Conservative Party in all steps taken in this respect.

Conservatives said Agrostar representatives complained that the situation in the country’s agriculture sector has become unbearable for farmers who are pushed into bankruptcy due to the incompetence of ministry officials.

Conservatives call on the government to present an urgent strategy meant to replace state aid granted until January 1, 2010, to draft a government decision aimed to reduce excise taxes for diesel oil used in farming, to urgently pay all debts to farmers, amend Law 381/2002 regarding compensations paid in case of natural disasters and to develop a real and efficient strategy for the country’s ailing agricultural sector.
