“Microsoft Romania’s turnover, in the 12 years since the division was opened, increased by an annual average of 50%. For the current fiscal year, which ends Jun 30, global economic turmoil determined us to lower our initial growth estimates to 20%. Romania depends on investments of companies based in countries that have serious problems. Also, the decisions of the new government can influence not just Microsoft Romania, but the entire economy,” Tatomir said during a press conference.
In the first five months of the current fiscal year, namely July-November, Microsoft Romania’s turnover increased 60% on the year. Tatomir didn’t say what influenced this growth.
"Most of our revenue comes from the private sector. In the first five months, turnover on the segment of small and medium-sized companies increased 38% compared to the same period in the past fiscal year,” Tatomir said.
The company currently employs 267 and people, and plans to reach about 300 by summer 2009 and about 600 by 2012.
