Romanian Carmaker Dacia Sees Biggest Sales Increase On French Market In October

In the January-October interval, registrations of Dacia cars and light commercial vehicles increased by 38% in France, to 48,743 units, compared to the same interval the year before.

Dacia passenger car sales increased by 75% in October to 6,481 units and in the last ten months sales witnessed a 27% increase to 44,802 cars.

Dacia’s market share increased from 1.7% in October 2008 to 2.8% in October 2009, and from 1.6% in the first ten months to 2.3% in the same interval of 2009.

In October, the Frech market for cars and light commercial vehicles increased by 12% and 242,044 new cars were registered. On the automobile segment, the market increased by 20% to 210,140 units.

French trademarks Renault, Peugeot and Citroen were the best sold in October with a total of 137,864 registered cars and market shares of 57%. Renault sold the largest number of cars estimated at 59,390 units, 16% more than in October 2008, and market shares of 24.5%.

Among foreign trademarks, Volkswagen reported the largest number of new car registrations, estimated at 22,559, down 3.5% compared to October 2008, while Ford reported the largest number of sales, namely 14,026 units.
