At the end of the European Council’s meeting on Friday, the RFI correspondent asked Basescu whether Romania is willing to give up the position of European Commissioner if the member states fail to ratify the Lisbon Treaty and the Treaty of Nice remains in force.

The Romanian head of state declined to reply and he told the journalist that any answer would need a question showing minimum intelligence.
