The provision implements a 45-day interval after collective layoffs during which employers are compelled to hire their employees back for the same positions, without contest or probationary period.

The draft Labor Code put forward by the Government stated employers are free to hire anyone they considered suitable for a position, following collective layoffs.

The Government will convene a special meeting Monday evening to discuss the proposed amendments to the new Labor Code for which the prime minister will seek a confidence vote in Parliament Tuesday. The Government will analyze about 12 of the 144 amendments put forward by ruling coalition lawmakers and will take a final decision.
