Bazac reminded that a series of measures were established on February 10 along with managers and medical directors of main emergency hospitals countrywide, which target to make ERs less crowded, improve the relationship between ER doctors and doctors on guard within other units with respect to special examinations and hospitalization of patients.
According to Bazac, the main measures target to set up a special medical unit for patients, assign at least 5% of beds in the specialized hospitals to the ER and introduce the “on call” system, allowing patients to phone in case of emergency and ask for medical assistance at home.
Thus, the hospitalization of patents in critical condition becomes mandatory as of Monday and, if the patient’s condition requires the intervention of several doctors and none of them wants the patient to be committed in the respective unit, then, the ER doctor on guard will decide on patient’s mandatory hospitalization.
Moreover, in special cases, the patient can be hospitalized with the prior consent of the ER chief and hospital management.
