Romanian Transp Ministry To Have Attributions In Certifying Civil Airports
„Civil airports on Romanian territory will be certified as international airports or airports open to international air traffic by order of the minister of transportation, based on observations and recommendations included in a report drawn up by an evaluation commission,” according to a draft government decision drawn up by the Ministry of Transportation.
The draft also states that starting the date when Romania applies the Schengen acquis fully, flights between Romanian airports and other airports applying the acquis will be considered domestic flights.
The draft also sets the certifying, evaluation and self-evaluation procedures of civil airports.
Airports are to be evaluated by commissions appointed by order of the minister of transportation. Evaluation commissions are to include three representatives of the Transport Ministry, two representatives of the Interior Ministry, one representative from the Finance Ministry, one from the Health Ministry and one from the Agriculture Ministry.
Romania currently has 16 civil airports, 14 of which include customs offices and one is open to international air traffic.
