Lehder a fost condamnat la închisoare pe viață plus 135 de ani de închisoare în 1988 de tribunal din Florida pentru trafic de cocaină.

Sentința i-a fost redusă ulterior cu 55 de ani după ce a depus mărturie împotriva fostului dictator panamez Manuel Noriega și a fost eliberat în 2020 din cauza unor probleme de sănătate.

Autoritățile de mograție din Columbia au anunțat că fostul lord al drogurilor a fost predat poliției.
