Navy Day celebrated with pomp

As happens each year, the Constanta harbor was by far the day’s attraction and the guests lived up to it: Traian Basescu, President of Romania; Teodor Melescanu, Minister of Defence; Ludovic Orban, Minister of Transportation; Cristian David, Minister of Internal Affairs and Administrative Reform, as well as members of the central and local administration.

But the main actors of the festivities were the warships of the Romanian Naval Forces, along with civilian ships. After the MoD and Ministry of Transportation presented the order of the day, Teodosie, Archbishop of Tomis, officiated a Te Deum in the memory of Virgin Mary – the patron of seafarers.
