Romania had absorbed EUR1.9 billion in EU structural funds, excluding agriculture, by the end of 2010, accounting for only 10% of the total funds available for the period 2007-2013, Finance Ministry official Bogdan Dragoi said Wednesday.

Romanian Tourism and Regional Development Ministry secretary of state Barna Tanczos said Wednesday that co-financing has become the country's main problem in absorbing European funds.

Romania should focus on the absorption of European funds in the upcoming period, which would ensure the balanced convergence with the western economies and bring benefits to the other sectors, the central bank governor Mugur Isarescu said Tuesday.
