Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dancila reacted to a letter expressing the concerns of 12 allied states on the country’s justice system on Wednesday, saying that she will not allow the ambassadors of foreign states to set her agenda.

Romanian Transport Minister Anca Boagiu met Thursday with the ambassadors of the United Kingdom and the Netherlands to talk about the port of Constanta, which Boagiu said could become Europe's second largest, after Rotterdam.

Romanian Interior Minister Vasile Blaga said joining the Schengen Area has purely technical conditions and Romania wants to be treated fairly and even expected to meet higher requirements, since it will make up the EU’s eastern border.

Ambassadors to Bucharest of European Union members states told Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc that foreign companies operating in Romania keep complaining about trials pending in court way too long and about abusive auction proceedings, by cancelling auctions based on no solid grounds.

Romania’s President Traian Basescu said Wednesday, the country’s partnership with the U.S.A will be characterized by “continuity”, adding “a worthy friendship is when partners know how to share” and Romania proved it is “a reliable friend”.
