Online store eMAG on Friday said it has widened its portfolio to include books, planning to become the top book retailer within the year.

Herta Muller, winner of the 2009 Nobel Prize for Literature, will come to Bucharest on September 27-28, when the Humanitas publishing house launches an author series dedicated to her, within a wider campaign marking the publishing house’s 20th anniversary.

Over half of Romanians, namely 51%, bought no books in 2009, compared with 46% in 2008, according to a survey presented Thursday evening by the Romanian Center for Cultural Study and Research.
