Three flights to Italy were cancelled Sunday on Bucharest’s international airport Otopeni and another two flights were cancelled on international airport Baneasa, because of a new volcanic eruption in Iceland and the ash cloud hovering over Europe.

The Ploiesti Court of Appeals has ruled to suspend the Order of the Romanian Finance Ministry banning the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products in duty-free shops.

Romanian social democrat leader Mircea Geoana said Tuesday the temporary cancellation of the registration tax for cars is a “commonsensical” solution in the short run, and added that, in order to encourage Romanian industry, authorities should only purchase Romanian cars.
