Several foreign tour operators threatened to take Romania off their catalogues and even start an anti-campaign, displeased with reduced visiting hours at Castle Bran and its furniture being moved into the medieval customs building, Romania's Association of Tour Operators (ANAT) said Wednesday.

Romanian tourism minister Elena Udrea said Saturday after a meeting with Archduke Dominic of Habsburg, owner of Romania’s Castle Bran, that they agreed to have an “active partnership” for the promotion of this tourist attraction.

Romania’s Ministry of Culture considers two variants to exploit Castle Bran, that of a public-private partnership or the castle’s acquisition by the state, culture minister Theodor Paleologu said Thursday.

Dominic of Habsburg, the owner of Romania’s Castle Bran, told MEDIAFAX Wednesday that the best solution for the castle is to be a private museum and the castle will be turned into a private museum as of May.
