Romanian opposition liberals decided Monday to halt all negotiations to improve regulations of the Chamber of Deputies until Chamber Speaker Roberta Anastase resigns, said party leader Crin Antonescu.

Romanian Chamber of Deputies speaker Roberta Anastase said Wednesday that the European Commission’s positive report on Romania’s justice system may be considered a sign of confidence on the part of the EU executive in the Romanian government.

The president of the Romanian Liberal Democratic Party, or PLD, Theodor Stolojan, asks Romanian Chamber Speaker Bogdan Olteanu, to immediately resign his position, because of the statements he made regarding the US Ambassador in Romania, Nicholas Taubman, said a press release issued by PLD.

Romanian Chamber Speaker, liberal Bogdan Olteanu, sent a new letter to president Traian Basescu, asking him to cease delaying the promulgation of the law on the uninominal voting system, for which the Government assumed responsibility in Parliament.
