The European Commission's plan to reduce the co-financing that must be provided by six EU member states to access EU funds, to 5% from 15%, may save Romania as much as EUR714 million.

The Romanian Government will adopt in February an emergency ordinance which will enable local authorities to co-finance European projects by using Government guarantees, Prime Minister Emil Boc announced Friday.
