The Romanian Communications Ministry is working on a state aid scheme aimed to support IT&C companies which plan to further develop their business in Romania, Communications Minister Valerian Vreme told MEDIAFAX.

Romania's Parliament will begin in September discussions on the bill transposing into national legislation the EU's new telecom regulations, whose late adoption led the European Commission to launch an infringement procedure against Romania, says the Communications Ministry.

Romanian Communications Minister Gabriel Sandu Tuesday signed a Memorandum in Brussels whereby car owners can equip their vehicles with a system which automatically dials 112, Europe's single emergency number, in case of serious accidents.

Telecom operators will benefit from EUR83 million in 2010 to extend their network to uncovered areas, and the financial aid scheme is financed from European funds, Romanian Communications Ministry secretary of state Marius Fecioru said Thursday.
