Seven consortia and companies have challenged the Romanian government tenders for the construction of the Timisoara-Lugoj and Orastie-Sibiu highways, part of Pan-European Corridor IV.

The former mayor of the northern Romanian city of Baia Mare, Cristian Anghel, sentenced to two and a half years in prison for corruption, will serve his jail term as the Cluj Court of Appeals overruled Thursday a contestation against its previous ruling.

Romanian poet Mircea Dinescu, a member in the Council Studying the Archives of Romania's former secret police Securitate (CNSAS), contested the National Integrity Agency’s decision stating he is incompatible with his position in the Council, people close to the matter told MEDIAFAX Tuesday.

The European Commission insists that Romania allow car tax payers to contest this tax, while the Romanian authorities promise to consider elaborating a catalog on the car market values depending on factors such as brand and length of service to determine the depreciation of a car’s value in time.
