Romanian elections officials on Tuesday said democrat liberals gained 28.37% county council seats at the local elections on Sunday, followed by Social Democratic Party with 28.04% and the National Liberal Party – 18.66%.

Romania’s Chamber of Deputies approved Tuesday, during debates on the draft introducing the uninominal voting system, an amendment according to which county council presidents are to be elected uninominally.
