Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dancila dismissed the country’s Danube Delta governor, Malin-Matei Musetescu, on Friday, amid a wave of replacing several secretaries of state from the Energy, Environment and European Funds ministries.

Romanian President Traian Basescu said Thursday, at the end of meeting with Prince Albert II of Monaco at the presidential Cotroceni Palace, that the Danube Delta has not been promoted that much so far, adding that the Tourism Ministry is bound to focus on this objective this year.

Romanian former environment minister, democrat liberal Deputy Sulfina Barbu, has presented a proposal to amend the law on Danube Delta’s Biosphere reservation, aiming to increase fines and clarify the reservation patrimony’s situation.

Journalist Liviu Mihaiu will no longer be the Governor of Romania’s Danube Delta, environment minister Nicolae Nemirschi said Wednesday, after the Government meeting.

Romanian Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu said Thursday he wants fishing in the Danube Delta to continue only for touristic purposes, and be eliminated as an economic activity.
