The system of donations aimed at reducing the effects of the crisis, imposed by the Romanian Government on public bodies and state-owned companies, will carry on at least until 2014, earning the state up to an estimated 1.6 billion lei (EUR1=RON4.2779) per year.

Romania’s next year draft budget, discussed with the International Monetary Fund, stipulates a 1.5-2% economic growth and a budget deficit of 4.4% of the gross domestic product, Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu said Monday.

Romania’s Chamber of Deputies approved Wednesday, with 134 votes in favor, 3 votes against and 3 abstentions this year’s draft budget for the Chamber, but liberals said they will contest the vote citing lack of quorum.

The pension point might be hiked this year in two stages, in March and September, the preliminary 2009 budget projection shows, governmental sources told MEDIAFAX Monday.
