Two Dutch citizens were caught by Romanian authorities on Tuesday trying to cross the border from Ukraine while transporting more than 84kg of heroin, according to the country's top anti-organized crime agency DIICOT.

Romania’s organized crime police (DIICOT) arrested a man involved in a major drug ring, whose next mission was to smuggle in dozens of kilograms of heroin from Turkey.

Romanian organized crime prosecutors Tuesday arrested a police officer in capital Bucharest for illegal drug trade, after he had also been convicted for theft, said Bucharest Police spokesman Christian Ciocan.
