Romanian carmaker Automobile Dacia will invest more than 57 million lei (EUR1=RON4.2878) into an engine block designed for a new family of engines, with RON20 million to be provided as non-reimbursable funds.

All cars made by Romania’s Automobile Dacia will come equipped with Euro 5 engines by January 1, 2011 at the latest, while at the moment the carmaker only uses this type of engine in separate versions of three of its models.

Romanian carmaker Automobile Dacia will produce Euro 5 engines for Dacia, Renault, Nissan and Renault Samsung models, by using a new engine family and adapting one that currently conforms to the Euro 4 standard.

Romania’s state-owned railway company passenger division CFR Calatori bought a train engine that can reach seeds of up to 200 kilometers an hour from local engine and electrical equipment maker Softronic, for 9.39 million lei (EUR1=RON4.1981), VAT not included, the railway company said Thursday.
