Romania’s Finance Ministry shortlisted ten banks in an auction to select the lead manager of a five to ten years Eurobond issue worth at least EUR500 million, people familiar with the matter said Wednesday.

Romanian investors will be able to trade eurobonds on the international capital markets after Romania’s Central Securities Depository set up a direct connection between its own clearing and settlement system RoClear and the similar institution in Luxemburg, settlement house Clearstream Banking.

Romania’s finance ministry will launch a long-delayed Eurobond issue after the European Commission releases its spring economic forecast, the Romanian Finance Minister Varujan Vosganian said Monday.
