Romania’s education unionists decided Tuesday, after talks with Education Minister Daniel Funeriu, to go ahead with the May 31 strike, which will coincide with the written foreign language high school graduation exam, and called for an emergency meeting with Prime Minister Emil Boc.

Romanian high school admission will consist, according to the new education law, of an evaluation comprising all curricula, added with a practical test of computer skills, as well as references from the teachers, said Romanian Education Minister Daniel Funeriu.

Romanian teachers’ union members said Monday that, should the national exams be rescheduled, their strikes would be rescheduled as well, to coincide with the new exam dates.
