Romania’s Ministry of Economy and Finance will grants compensations worth 25 million lei (EUR1=RON3.6767) in May and RON50 million in June to people deported during the communist regime or whose seized property cannot be returned, finance minister Varujan Vosganian said Friday.

The constant growth of oil prices and the situation in Romania, the only country with crude-oil resources in the European Union, questions Petrom’s strategy, which cannot continue like this, Economy and Finance Minister Varujan Vosganian said.

Romania’s Economy and Finance Ministry plans to sell state treasuries worth a total of 1 billion lei ($426 million) in May, of which RON700 million as benchmark bonds and RON300 million as T-Bills.

Romanian businessman Dinu Patriciu, the richest man in Romania in 2007 according to business weekly Capital, said Wednesday he will finance this year’s election campaigns of parties he likes.
