Romania’s gross domestic product shrank by a seasonally adjusted 0.6% in the third quarter compared with the previous quarter, amounting to 120.4 billion lei (EUR1=RON4.2496), according to revised data released Thursday by the country's statistics institute INS.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Thursday revised up its forecast on Romania’s economic growth next year to 1%, from a 0.4% advance previously estimated.

Romania’s economy is seen growing by 7.5% in the first quarter of 2008 compared with 6% growth in the same period last year, on higher output in the construction and services sectors, Romanian Finance Minister Varujan Vosganian said Monday during a press conference.
