Romania's annual inflation rate climbed to 4% in December 2019 from 3.8% in November, data from the country's statistics board showed Tuesday.

Romania posted the third lowest annual inflation rate in the European Union in June, of 0.7%, after Denmark (0.4%), according to data published Monday by Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU.

Romania’s inflation rate is expected to rise and the budget deficit is seen widening due to tax cuts and higher public spending and the unitary pay bill is a huge risk for fiscal estimations, the European Commission said in its spring forecast released on Thursday.
