The National Bank of Romania admitted it has sold EUR40 million on the foreign exchange market Friday to test the market’s functionality, according to its spokesperson, after dealers said the central bank stepped in to support the national currency leu.

The National Bank of Romania intervened on the forex market on Friday in order to support the national currency, following the high volatility of the leu in the first part of the trading session, dealers said.
