Romania’s newly-created leftist party, the National Union for the Progress of Romania (UNPR), designated its leaders during a national conference on Saturday, when the country celebrates International Workers’ Day.

Romania's Constitutional Court Wednesday dubbed unconstitutional, with a majority of votes, the law approving Government Emergency Ordinance 37/2009, enacted on June 23, which enabled the political appointment of people at the helms of the country's decentralized state institutions.
