Romania's largest hard-line operator RomTelecom, majority-owned by Hellenic Telecommunications Organization SA, or OTE, won the license and will launch its mobile telephony services by yearend, the company’s general manager, Yorgos Ioannidis, said Thursday.

Romania’s top three mobile telephony operators, Orange, Vodafone and Cosmote, had together 22.236 million customers at the end of 2007, exceeding by over half a million the population in the country, of 21.565 million people.
