A Romanian court in capital Bucharest found a nanny guilty of physically abusing the two children in her care, and also ruled to have the woman serve a previously suspended one-year imprisonment sentence.

The demand for Filipino nannies has increased 40% on the Romanian market in the first quarter of the year, compared to the same period of 2009, and recruitment firms forecast the number of requests will grow next year.

A Bucharest Court has ordered a nanny who mistreated the two year-old girl in her care to pay a criminal fine, moral damages and court fees, a first for the Romanian judicial system.
