Representatives of several non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on Thursday called on the Romanian government to include NGOs in the category of beneficiaries of state guarantees for loans contracted to co-finance EU-funded projects, with guarantees covering 30-35% of the loan value.

Romanian NGOs assembled in the coalition "Stop the codes!" sued the Government and Ministry of Justice Monday and accused them of breaching the law of transparency in their adoption of the draft Criminal and Civil Codes.

Several Romanian NGOs sent an open letter to foreign affairs minister Cristian Diaconescu asking him to notify the Council of the European Union on the "serious violations of European legislation committed by the Italian state."
