Timisoara International Airport, in western Romania, saw an increase of 70% in passenger traffic on the year in the first three months of 2017, to 355,832 passengers.

Fifteen people were hospitalized after a fast passenger train traveling from western Timisoara to capital city Bucharest went off the rails Monday morning soon after it left the railway station in Craiova, Dolj County, southern Romania.

Low-cost airliner Wizz Air carried 720,000 passengers from and to Romania in the first half of the year, up 86% from the same period in 2008, mainly on the backdrop of the increase in the number of flights and the setting up of new operations bases on the Romanian market.

Romanian airline Tarom carried 312,300 passengers between January and March this year, 16.3% less than in the same period last year, according to data of the Association of European Airlines (AEA).

Some two hundred passengers who were supposed to take flights to London and Vienna have been stuck on Bucharest’s ‘Henri Coanda’ international airport for several hours on Friday.
