Romanian Foreign Intelligence Service Has No Knowledge Of CIA Prisons In Romania

Romania’s Foreign Intelligence Service said it does not have any data or information regarding the existence of a CIA detention center in Bucharest, as it the New York Times wrote in its online edition Thursday.

Italian Prisons Currently Hold 2,850 Romanians

There are one million Romanians in Italy at the moment and 2,850 of them are currently under arrest, while in the first two weeks of 2009 there were deportation papers signed for 30 Romanians, according to official statistics obtained by MEDIAFAX.

EC Anti-Torture Committee Issues Report On ’06 Romanian Prison Conditions

The Council of Europe anti-torture Committee, which visited, in 2006, several prison facilities in Romania, warned that the prisons are overcrowded and the inmates spend most of their time in their cells. Romanian authorities said the situation has changed following the passing of the prison law.
