Romanian President Traian Basescu on Tuesday said the measures taken by the government so far are rough, audacious, yet highly necessary, adding they are meant to cut down public spending and set a reasonable balance between various social categories.

Romanian President Traian Basescu Tuesday will hold talks with the Government on issues regarding public spending in the administrative sector, absorption of European funds, public procurement legislation, the revision of the country’s Constitution and the decentralization of state institutions.

Theodor Stolojan, vice-president of Romania’s Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) said Saturday that Romania could be affected by the international financial crises unless prudential measures are taken in this respect.
