Romania’s Prime Minister Emil Boc on Sunday said classes will be suspended Monday in kindergartens and schools in capital city Bucharest and eleven counties countrywide, due to frosty weather and blizzards.

Vasile Guzganu, principal of the Romanian “Ioan Holban” high school in Iasi, eastern Romania, on Monday told the press that 53 Romanian pupils were exposed to the two British pupils diagnosed with the A-H1N1 virus, adding they are monitored by the local Public Health Department.

Romanian parents are not obligated to contribute money to the maintenance and upgrade of the material base of the classroom. The Bucharest School Inspectorate sent a memo to schools saying that this contribution is exclusively collected and managed by the parents committee.

An anti-drug project aimed at informing teenagers aged 14 to 16 and their parents on the effects of narcotics will be unfolded during counseling and guidance classes in schools, Romania’s Ministry of Education, Research and Youth said Monday.
