Romania’s power output dropped by 0.9% on the year in January-July, while the country’s total power resources dropped 1.1% on the year in the same period, the National Statistics Institute said Wednesday.

Canadian company Gabriel Resources allotted a EUR27.3 million budget for the Rosia Montana project in 2010, a sum required for asset maintenance and the environment impact study.

Drought will not affect Romania in July and August as severely as last year and the country has sufficient water resources, Marius Postelnicescu, head of Romania’s National Water Administration, said Thursday.

Romania’s power output rose 4.1% on the year in January-April, while the country’s total power resources rose 2% on the year in the same period of 2008, the National Statistics Institute said Thursday.
